2024 Pantry Collection
March 02, 2024

In 2023 I created a pantry collection which has been super well received, especially at the many markets I traded in. So at the beginning of 2024, I decided to create an extra range of yummy and fun pantry products including postcards, keychains, magnets and stickers.

All of these products are great fun to make and help me to keep my website up to date with new and fun products.

I have to go to a supermarket at least once a week and even though I’m aware of many products, I thought this time it would be really good fun to do some proper research by taking photos of many of the products available for sale that I could potentially illustrate.

Valentines Day Greeting Cards

I took loads of photos of many different pantry goods in a supermarket to use as my reference and it was great fun to see what’s available. As you know I’m from Taiwan, so I’m not aware of many canned goods at supermarkets, so this was a great help.

Chris and I also got the inspiration for other new collections for this year because of this “researching trip” but I want to keep future developments a secret for now.

After this fun research trip, I have created 8 new pantry illustrations. These 8 pantry illustrations are Pop Tart, Spaghetti Hoops, Hot Dogs, Ravioli, Cocktail Cherries, Meatballs, Cake Mix and Fruit cocktails.

One of the most asked questions from my followers is how I find my inspiration. I think that the answer is quite simple. I find my inspiration from things I love and I care about in my daily life.

When working on the sketches for this pantry art, I started seeing little food characters bunching and dancing on my sketch pad. I started imagining “What are they doing?”. So you can see the meatballs are having a karaoke party, the ravioli are having a picnic. This process made me feel happy and peaceful.

If you have followed my work for a while you know how much I love food and anything related to food. I love drawing fun food characters, and yummy food recipe cards and I love making them into fun, colourful and sweet products. My intention for creating is simple, I just want to create something that makes my viewers happy and feel warm in their hearts when they see my illustrations or products. Whenever Chris and I trade in the markets or fairs, we often hear customers come over to our stall and start saying “Awww…this is so cute. Oh!! Look that! That’s so funny and sweet..” Every time I here this, it always makes me super happy because that’s the best feeling as a creator and that feeling is the biggest motivation to keep me creating more and more original niche fun art like this.

I’m currently working on many book projects at the moment but I will try my best to work on more and more new art and products for you! Stay tuned!
