At the end of 2013 I was asked to design two Christmas cards. One was for a consultancy company called “First Eclipse” who are a life coaching and leadership skill development company who have worked with and helped a number of clients including the NHS, Fettes College, Scottish Power, University of Edinburgh and more.
This was the first time I had been commissioned to create a Christmas card for a company and I thought it turned out really well. My understanding from First Eclipse was the card would be posted to all of their customers so potentially it could draw in more clients. It was a pleasure working with First Eclipse and they were easy to work and communicate with.
In my home country Taiwan we don’t really celebrate Christmas, at least not like they do in the UK, but since I had Amelia each year I’m becoming more and more Christmasy so this kind of projects really puts me in the Christmas mood.
The other Christmas card I designed was for a competition for Edinburgh Council. The winner of this competition would have their design used in the Lord and Lady Provost of Edinburgh Christmas card. Based on previous years designs I didn’t think my card would be selected, and indeed it wasn’t, but it was a fun process creating this card anyway and it’s given me the impetus to create more cards (Christmas, Thank You etc) i the future. I did send this card out to my family and friends though and everyone seemed to like it.
